I have been a part of unfair silent layoff at Walmart. What should I do ?

As a former VMware employee, I had a positive relationship with my ex-manager during my tenure there. However, since joining Walmart, I find myself in a challenging situation. One week back, I've been placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) at Walmart, which I perceive as unjust. I'm at a crossroads now. Should I consider resigning? I'm facing what appears to be a political environment, and my relationship with my current manager isn't conducive. In fact, I suspect my manager is struggling with political pressures as well. While I'm hesitant to resign due to the less favorable job market, enduring the humiliation within my current team isn't sustainable either. One pressing question I have is whether being on a PIP will affect my ability to transfer internally according to Walmart's policies. This information is crucial for me to make an informed decision about my next steps. #tech #walmartLabs #pip #exVmware

It’s unlikely that you can switch teams. Take medical leave if you are having issues to clear your head

how medical leave will help here ? Medical leave will buy me extra days to be on payroll ?

Sam's Club samsBaba Apr 26

Yes, this is helpful if you haven’t had a formal conversation and the process hasn’t started on workday.

It's possible to switch teams as I was allowed to do so when I was on pip (not at Coupang). I found a new job and resigned though. Also only your manager on the team will know of your pip, your teammates will not know.

Once the DA plan starts, it will be very difficult to switch teams. You need to be at least 18 months in your current role before switching teams or have your manager’s sign-off to switch team.

Once PIP starts, new team hiring manager won't know that until he talks to my current manager. Isn't it ?

Sam's Club samsBaba Apr 26

Pip or no pip, workday triggers a task for your manager to submit feedback for you before hiring manager can move you forward into the process. If the hiring manager entertains your candidacy without applying on internal portal, or if they are already aware about current situation then none of this matters.

Didn’t know walmart even had pip. I joined amazon from walmart How long have you been there ? Looks like your relationship with manager has been negative since you joined ? Do you think your performance suffered ? At Walmart generally speaking they don’t really pip unless you’ve abandoned work.

This year looks like they have started silent layoff. Management is pretty bad in our org.

Once you are on a PIP you need to successfully complete it before trying to transfer. They bring said, there is no such thing as an unjust PIP. You did something to get PIPped and it's your job to figure it out or leave.

Do not resign, look for another job and then take it. The market out there is crazy tough. I’m not sure if u can or cannot transfer

What the actual shit is going on at Walmart, I have seen that politics are ruining multiple teams lately. Check as much as you can outside, and inside see if you can find any other projects internally, if you do not have the necessary time in seat find projects with another VP so that you can get their blessing and move without the time in seat restrictions. Lastly, I hope you the best and hope this politics bullshits gets to an end
