So I have been investing since October, 2021. I just looked my overall return and even after all the market ups and mostly downs, I’m still in positive! I have around $250k in market with around $120k in cash invested in tbonds. This $250k includes 401k and Roth. I was surprised to see that overall I’m 7k in profits. I reached $250k over two years. Initially starting with just 2k. So the returns are even better as it is not over the whole amount but rolling amount. Maybe a HYSA would have given me higher returns but the point of this post is, I invested during one of the most bearish period in the stock market and yet came out positive. I do not do dividend investing but my dividends from etfs and stock portfolio is already around $1700/year. Tc: 230k
DCA into VT about breaking even.
The value of $1 is not the same as it was it in 2021. Inflation is the silent killer
What investment would you suggest to beat inflation better than stock market?
Up quite a bit in my portfolio of VGT, SMH, and VOO. Started investing in mid-2021. Up 25% in 1 year look-back.
Awesome!
what percentage you put in SMH, VGT, VOO. do you think SMH and VGT sectors can grow in next 10 years too.
Up 16% since Oct 2021
barely positive for things I’ve held since then, sold some at peak tho.
7k positive here isn’t very good. Inflation was 15%. That said, any money you can save will eventually pay dividends in the long run. So keep it up. 250k is a great number to have!
