It’s always the annoying ones that want to go back into office I absolutely love WFH and want it to become permanent. We should only go into office maybe 1-2 times a sprint - maybe for backlog refinement and sprint planning so innovation continues. This would be 1 day a week or every two weeks where everyone is required in office to allow for that hallway conversation for innovation as well. What do you think? What do you think?
1) The time and energy saved (commute, getting ready for the office, water cooler chats, standing in the queue for lunch) - Probably more than 3 hrs a day 2) Time spent being around family and loved ones, vs people who hate you but are nicer on the face. 3) sitting in office vs sitting at home, close your eyes and it’s the same thing..meetings over VC vs meetings in-person, there’s only marginal difference.. 4) possibility of catching flu and other viral diseases in offices is quite high. Using office toilet that everyone uses - people wfh are gonna get less sicker and so will their families There’s no logical reasoning that justifies working from office other than employers not trusting their employees and some employees who love the non-productive part of hanging out with their colleagues. I would absolutely love it if I never physically meet any of my colleagues! You just need to find some personal discipline and wfh can change your life!
Same here. For the first time in my life, I haven’t caught cold for such a long time.. Wfh could break the chain for a lot of smaller viral infections that no one generally cares about.
Either that or in acouple years your immune system is less prepared to fight anything.
I've had a strange career where I've been mostly remote. I can't imagine being in an office full time. I only miss after work drinks.
This
Never cared for the social pressure to drink. I used to drink so much when I worked in the office due to all the work dranks. I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore.
Wfh should be permanent, at least for us who just needs to be on the keyboard all day. I can take a sh*t whenever I want without worrying about catching my coworker's ghonorrhea, or covid.
My manager is jobless..
He’s not very savvy at slack ..he used to look busy traveling, being in meeting rooms
I think wfh is fine, but covid needs to go away so I can do more activities
3 days office and 2 days home is an attractive (best of both worlds) but a super shitty option in practicality. You would niether be able to design your life around wfh nor around working from office..it’s going to make you feel quite unsettled. Also, you’ll waste a lot of time finding other colleagues who aren’t planning to work from office on the same days. Worst meetings are when some people are in a room together and the rest are dialled in on a Vc. If you fix the days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), people are gonna cry for more flexibility.
Why are you getting bothered by people who prefer to get back into the office? A lot of people have legitimate reasons for want to go back. For example, studies have shown that WFH exacerbates gender inequalities and is not necessarily good for women. Others do not have living conditions which are suitable for long term work at home. And so on. I think we’ll have greater flexibility and hopefully people will be able to choose an arrangement that works for them. Personally, I’m not sure what I’d like yet. I’ve become very comfortable WFH atm but I do miss the socialisation aspect of it.
"For example, studies have shown that WFH exacerbates gender inequalities and is not necessarily good for women." Can you explain? How so? I'm a woman and I absolutely love WFH. I only wish WFH had happened sooner so I wouldn't have faced sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying from colleagues earlier in my career pre-WFH.
Have a read of this. It’s quite interesting! https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/hbr.org/amp/2020/07/why-wfh-isnt-necessarily-good-for-women It varies on individual circumstances and people’s preferences may even change over a lifetime. Ultimately what we need is to recognise that individually everyone has different needs and to build a workplace that respects and provides flexibility for our individual choices.
I disagree on promotions when WFH. If you're doing a good job not being in the office shouldn't matter!
Imagine thinking anyone who disagrees with you is annoying lol
Something you could see often lately in political discussions. It's usually young people or just someone not able to see things from more than one perspective.
Are you seriously disagreeing there is a ton politics/bullshit in the workplace? C'mon...

I can’t focus at home and feel disconnected from work, I also don’t understand how you can get promoted easily while wfh especially starting a new job. It’s mostly those who have families who want to wfh.
I have kids and I want to go back to the office 😂
