Title says all 1. Do you think your health is negatively impacted? 2. Do you have time and energy to go to gym during workdays? 3. Do you have a good sleep? I have problems in sleep and I need to workout for some other health concerns. But I’m considering joining a pre-IPO which has a bad WLB score(same as FB - 3.2). So I’m wondering whether it worth it to take the risk and sacrifice some personal time to improve and maintain my health. TC: 250k
It does impact your health. I would say make exercise a priority.. Thats how I relax.. Either early am or in the evening. But I think you can only take so much stress...so if you are going to under stress for extended period then think twice about this opportunity..
I mean if you just worked through lunch, you're already at 45 hours. An extra hour in the AM and you're already at 50 and you have your entire weekend free.
Cool. Another angle
I feel like it depends what you’re working on. Short spurts of of a few weeks on something you’re passionate about is OK on health. Even if you lose some sleep. But if it’s something you feel forced to do, it’s very unhealthy stress-wise. Simple non-work example: In my younger years, I spent nights partying and chasing women that were absolutely incredible. I was so excited every day that only sleeping 5-6 hours didn’t bother me.
great example!
It doesn’t bother you, but it will for sure impact your health long-term if you do that continuously, no matter how much you enjoy the activity
