Perfect fit, didn’t get the job.

I just heard back from a company I was super excited about. Did their on site where I met with 11 people total over about 7 hours. I didn’t get the job. Upon talking to the recruiter I am a perfect fit. Nothing but positive feedback. They might even still hire me for it he said. But to summarize, they want to see if they can find someone who “will hit the ground running”. Apparently they even talked about how unrealistic it was to expect someone to hit the ground running for this role. Do companies really pass up on “perfect Fits” like this?

No, they are just sugar coating the rejection. Forget and move on.

Really? Doesn’t seem like it. I feel like one person in the loop wouldn’t budge and that was that. I am pretty sure I know who it was too.

Google nrvD43 Jun 25, 2019

Sure sure, but there's nothing you can do at this point. Thinking about it will just waste your time. Best to let it go and move on.

Yes, next

It sucks. I get you don’t care. But to me it was a dream job.

I had those moments, is not the end of the world

Sounds like they are waiting on other promising candidates to complete interviews.

Amazon randoBanjo OP Jun 25, 2019

Perhaps. I would think they would just keep me in the dark though rather than tell me I was rejected if that was the case.

What company was it?

Albertsons ?

Amazon randoBanjo OP Jun 25, 2019

I can’t say. It’s exclusive enough that they would know who I am.

Don't worry about it. You're at Amazon you're top talent. Just because you didn't leetcode doesn't mean you're not worth it. Even a principal at Google may suck somewhere else like device driver programming. Go to someone who wants you.

Happens all the time, get used to it. I was once told I was a great technical fit but I wasn’t a cultural fit. Im female and in my 20s and being told I didn’t fit in stung and almost felt sexist.

There is always someone better. That's why I prefer to apply to companies that hire generalists such as Google and Facebook.
