Anyone been on a performance improvement plan in consulting? Looking for some advice on how to handle it.
If you want to stay: 1. Acknowledge the PIP as an opportunity to grow. Put out every other negative thought about it. 2. Thank your manager for taking the time to clearly articulate their expectations and express your commitment to get things on track. 3. Demonstrate and report back in writing weekly progress against all expectations. 4. Show up to every meeting, every 1:1, every team call 2 minutes early. Come prepared every time. If you have an action item, follow up afterwards in email acknowledging it. 5. Keep a running list of all action items and to do’s. Make personal daily progress. If you get stuck, talk to a trusted peer or mentor to get unstuck. 6. Finally, stay positive. If you commit yourself to these things then you will come out of this stronger and more capable. I promise. Good luck!
Good principles to live by in general....nicely said
Pip is usually an indication that either the job isn’t for you, or there is something you aren’t understanding. If you’re not engaged (and in co silting that could mean working long days and being very involved with the project) then move on. If the pip indicated that you’re not understanding something or you’re slower than your colleagues (for example data analysis or writing or just understanding an industry), then ask for training and learn the job. Consulting can be very difficult work, so be honest with yourself if that’s the path you want to take.
What is that exactly? What is your current situation ? What happened? People who aren’t performing at my firm get a flag, if you get 2 flags I think you get fired ..
Didn’t even know our company had PIPs but then again I guess every one does huh
