Hello, Wanted to understand how performance reviews take place at Expedia group? I have an offer from them, but I am mainly looking for a change because I am fed up of the “HR centric” performance review bureaucracies we follow at my current workplace. I just don’t want to end up in the same situation with another employer, so trying to gather some insights. Some high level questions I have are: 1. How empathetic are the HR folks? 2. Are they willing to listen and reason with you? 3. What are some of the reasons someone is put in a performance review? And what happens/ can happen if it’s the manager’s fault? 4. How long does an employee get before someone is put in a performance review? Apologies if my questions sound like a stretch. It’s just that I’ve been through several situations like these in the past and each time I was able to make a valid case but I might have just gotten lucky. And if the employer doesn’t have an advocacy towards employee welfare, I want to look for an opportunity some place else. Thanks in advance your time and inputs Regards B
I see. What if someone gets a “Does not meet the expectation” type of comment on their review? Do they get put into some kind of performance improvement plan that will be closely monitored and judged against in a defined timeline? (That’s what they do at Amazon btw)
You are panicking because of your exp at Amazon. Amazon does that because they cannot under any circumstances maintain 100% of the people hired! The norm at any company (unless you have shitty leader or ex-amazon! lol) will be "Hey, here are my expectations, here are where you are doing great and here are where you need to bring up. What can I do to help you improve in the growth areas?" Move on... Not ever company out there is hiring you to fire you =)
Chill out. You are coming from Amazon so you will be treated as special in some teams. Perf reviews are joke. EG does not value top talent so even if you don’t do anything you will not be impacted in anyways. Join soon and reiumburse the wellness benefit of $1250

Its under progress as we speak. Have connect with my manager next week. For promo folks they will know by next month or so. Letters shared in March. Pay effective April 1.

You can completely ignore performance review at Expedia. There wont be any or much rewards based on review. Its kind of always getting zero rewards at Amazon. HR doesn't involve or care as there is no bonus or stock company has to pay to employees. Also there is no PIP as employees anyway leave to get better pay at companies like Amazon.
