Top 3 reasons to work in FAANG: 1. Name recognition (prestige) 2. Top compensation 3. Job security All of them are falling apart. The industry knows you don’t need to work at FAANG to be a brilliant engineer. It’s no golden ticket on your CV. The compensation is basically the same as most other established tech companies or well funded start ups. The job security is no better, if not worse than, other tech companies. Unless you’re out of options, why join FAANG?
Well I am having a hard time finding places comparable to my tc that are hiring rn
Half the people working at FAANG are leetcode monkeys anyway, and I think the industry is catching up to that. But that’s what you get when you ask interview questions that have nothing to do with the job 🤷🏻♂️
This And also no hate to the leetcode monkeys, go get that bag
Totally- it’s not their fault.
Ah there comes the "prestige"
I miss women asking me if I had single coworkers
Agreed, but once the economy settles, FAANG will be back on top. Like it or not, they’re still the biggest companies in the world and have insanely deep pockets.
I'd love to jump ship, but pay doesn't come close . So I think reason #1 and #3 absolutely make sense, #2 doesn't.
There was never Job Security at Netflix, Meta, or Amazon. Even before layoffs, you were always 1 bad quarter away from being fired.
At Meta, i managed out someone with MM (below average) performance reviews for 2 straight years. It was never 1 bad quarter from being fired in the past.
One of my teammates was managed out before his 2nd PSC. I’m kind of surprised you didn’t get flak for taking so long.
Can you tell me those well-funded start-ups so that I can leave for them?
You work at Google, use it. (May I recommend Bing?)
