Personal use on work phone and data

Salesforce provides phones to employees. Does it get monitored more compared to using work apps on a personal phone? I know basic device info gets sent in the latter case. If mobile Hotspot is used, will the data get monitored? I doubt it because it's through a 3rd party(verizon) but the plan info looks special and wondering. (It shows like a shared plan). Anyone?

I wouldn't ever do personal stuff on work laptops or phones.

Why?

Good advice, OP. I have been in the workforce for decades and have witnessed employees being let go for content on work laptops or misuse of company phones. Keep your personal business off your employer-provided devices and you will never run into any trouble.

What are planning to watch OP

Honestly, Hotspot for the kids tablet on the road is probably it lol

Nah. It depends how they set up management for browsers though. But auditing the data and using it just creates a sense of intrusiveness. Mdms can restrict but not really monitor. And most companies wouldn’t mess with their engineers to that point where there’s an idea of surveillance. So watch all you want op. And use all you want lol.

It’s mostly for cyber security purposes. No one cares if you stream Netflix on your work computer.

Depends. Some companies will sync almost everything in your phone to the cloud, including my messages, some only backup data stored in business apps

You work for f'ing Amazon. Just use a personal phone or hotspot, or personal phone with hotspot. You can afford it. The technicals and associated policies are different from company to company and Infosec ain't telling you until its too late. I do know a consultant who got fired for watching porn on his work computer when he was on the road. Dumb for a whole host of reasons, but Infosec got him regardless.

Interesting. Thanks for the data. Easy on the language though. What do you think about logging into personal bank accounts? I hate carrying two laptops on a travel

I toned it down. :) Honestly, I wouldn't. Before the age of smartphones and tablets I would just use my work computer on trips if it was an emergency. Today, I just bring along my iPad if I know I need to do that type of personal work. At the end of the day, you can do what you want, but it's an unnecessary risk. I would tell my team the same thing.
