Peter Thiel exaggerated his success in Zero to One

I remember that when I read Zero to One (published in 2014), Peter Thiel described how he built Palantir Technologies and specified it had reached $1B in revenue. PLTR went public yesterday and 2019 revenue was $742M -2018 was $600M Pretty disappointing.

Lol this dude is one of the only people in the industry that think from first principles and have the spine and conviction to stand for his beliefs. Not to mention that he’s ridiculously intelligent. That’s how he got where he is today. If you haven’t atleast seen this interview with him, your opinion isn’t well informed. https://youtu.be/nM9f0W2KD5s

his exact words are: “The company is on track to book sales of $1 billion in 2014” technically he didn't say they reached $1B but that was 6 years ago and still hasn't hit.... by a lot

So that’s not lying. That’s giving an ambitious/overly optimistic bar.

He's a liar and a loser. The worst of the PayPal mafia. He's wealth is built on a lucky investment in FB to which he contributed nothing

You could also book a 20y contract with the total value of $1B, but that will only mean $50M revenue / year.

Good point. I guess this could explain it but the choice of words is definitely misleading

Carefully picking misleading but true words is what most CEOs do every quarter :)
