PgM looking to move into Tech industry

I currently work for a contract manufacturing company that produces circuit cards for aerospace and defense companies. I have been in this industry for 7 years now. I spent my first 6 years out of college working a production job, treading water while I look for opportunities here and there. I eventually got the opportunity to move up into an Associate program manager position. After my first 3 months, I was promoted to a program manager and given multiple customer accounts to manage, totaling over $20m in revenue. Contract manufacturing does not pay well for the work, raises are minuscule and the people in the industry are aging and close to retiring. I’m more than sure that I am getting paid very low because of my experience and the fact that I moved up from a production floor role. After a year, I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience in PgM and now looking to venture off into a different industry. I have been applying and interviewing for positions in the tech industry that are looking for 5-10+ years experience and I believe I am more than capable of performing those positions. But I feel a lot of companies are rejecting or overlooking my application and resume just because I only have 1 YOE in PgM. FWIW, I am working on getting the lean six sigma certification and considering PMP. Should I tough it out a couple more years in contract manufacturing to gain more experience under my belt? I have a few offers at other CMs that will pay more than my current company. Education: Bachelors in MIS PgM YOE: 1 TC: 60k #Pm #programmanager #PgM
