How possible is it for a US uni (I am at one of UCB/CMU/MIT/Stanford) to waive all graduate courses and just go straight to Research only. I've already done 2 graduate degrees and have publications (My MS in the US was a consequence of not getting into a PhD). I just cannot go through graduate courses again, it would be the third time and myself can just not bear it.
Have you already asked the school? I would think that you could get credit for graduate courses already taken in the same field at another school, especially if you got a degree.
I did graduate courses at my previous school and graduate courses at the school I may want to go for a PhD at.
How long was it that you completed your MS ?
2 months and the other one 3 years in June
Worth talking to your advisor and to your graduate school. It will help if there a large overlap between the courses that you have taken and the courses that your speciality requires.
I took a full load (3+) classes every single semester of my PhD and had a great time engaging with the faculty. If you put on a cheerful face and can handle the load, it’s a great opportunity.
i probably did around a total of 24 graduate courses in my lifetime. I am no longer willing to do courses. Just research.
PhD requires only a few courses after MS, typically 4 courses. That's not going to be waived.
It depends on schools. One of the listed school still requires 15 courses for PhD
This is a standard situation. You will be able to get some courses transferred but you will have to take some courses.
echoing everyone else here, u prolly got the point, u can transfer some credit but at the end phd after ms still only requires a handful of courses. it ALL depends on how liked ur prof/supervisor is and how strong his influence is in the faculty.
Most of the schools accept credits transfer. Say you need 60 credits in totally for phd, a master degree can transfer 30
what about two masters?
Can email the school/department directly and ask
At my university, PhD course are different. No chance that master courses will replace them. Do ask for core courses in PhD.
what uni were you?
No chance in an American PhD program.
everyone's inflexible geez. No jobs in industry, no flexibility in academia might as well live under a rock lol
The US has structured PhDs. If you want an unstructured program, apply somewhere like Germany.

You might be able to convince your program to accept transfer credits, however there is usually a time limit of five years after which it doesn’t count. For entry level courses you might be able to test out. Each program requirements differ best to talk with the academic advisor in yours.
@Disney, may I DM?
