If your team does daily standups, your manager is a micromanager
Right after RTO was announced I looked at everyone’s locations because so many were worried about RTO and being so far from an office. Not one person outside of Seattle had “Virtual Location” - they were all tied to an office in their state. Now, all of them show “Virtual Location” and only the people who are in Seattle are tied to an actual office. Can leaders just change people’s location at will in phone tool? It doesn’t seem fair that the 4 people in Seattle all have to return to the office while the remaining 11 all get to now stay remote because someone higher up recently changed their location. Something’s not right. 🤔
Mind your own business. It’s not like these people would socialize with you anyway if they were forced to go in, so it’s not like them coming would improve your office experience
It is my business nimrod.
Where people work is NOT your business, actually. That information is for HR, the manager; and the person themself. Not some creepy IC stalking people in phone tool. Deal with it
Virtual Location can require L10 sign off in some instances. Some teams have pre-approved Virtual Location which is at managers discretion.
Teams in variable cost centers can get L10 approval for a certain % of roles on their team to be virtual. If your L7/L8 wasn't at that limit they could change it if it was already approved. Although, in some orgs like PXT (HR), switching an employee from an office location to virtual after the RTO announcement required L11 approval.
Yes. So, L10 plus need to approve the move through Smart forms submitted by your direct manager or Hrbp
What happens if you say you moved like 4 hours away but you didn’t actually move? Do they require proof?
Usually depends as most if them trust you but may check which is rarely done.
Don't lie, your job us on the line. Where is your credibility and ethics. You dont want to risk that and get fired for falsification do you. They can figure that out. Its golden to have a job right now, don't risk losing it for lying to your employer.
It required HR to have my location updated
