I'm interviewing for a staff DS role at Pinterest. The recruiter said that the feedback was positive and they're going to make an offer. What TC I should ask for / target?
Depends on competing offers there’s a standard range recently released I don’t have my computer atm so can’t check for you. Can go pretty high though
SF.
Congratulations. Best to check levels.fyi and come up with a calculated range. Also, how was the interview process?
I've looked at levels.fyi. The range is pretty wide so I'm trying to get more insight from Blind.
How about picking a range that is X% above your current TC and recent max on levels.fyi for YOE
900k
That seems too high. None of the levels.fyi numbers go that high.
$900k if you add your first 2 years of TC together.
New comp targets went down 30%. Staff target went all the way down to 400
Hmm, that seems quite low for staff. What exactly does target mean here? Is 500 still reasonable?
I didn't check the max but the ranges are much smaller now. Even if they offer you 500, it will mean you are not getting refreshes and raises in the future until you move below the max again.
I'm telling all my friends not to join Pinterest. Stay away it's a tire fire right now
Why? Layoff concerns?
The culture diminished drastically after our head of HR and CEO joined. This is no longer a tier 1 company for pay and benefits. We are turning into a rest and vest company, except there's no resting because you'll get PIPd
Join at your own will if mental health doesn’t concern you
Aim for 250k base / 900k equity (they vest over 3 yrs now) for a 550k TC. You can try to ask for more equity, but know the cap is 1.2mm.
