The internet is filled with tips and material on getting into big tech but with trading firms and HFT less so. Is formal education in stats/math/econometrics a must? And what about the type of things they ask in interviews? #engineering #hft #trading
Being a SWE in HFT isn’t that different than working at a FAANG company, just a slightly different skill set and a faster pace of progress imo. Additionally, being able to problem solve or pick up something new quickly is invaluable. For many companies, getting in is harder than the actual work 🤷♂️ Source: ex FAANG, current Jump employee
How to prepare with little to no resource/data points is the question though. Does one just swallow a concurrency/low level systems textbook? Focus on LC/HR? Nobody knows what the expectations are
Not a doctor, but swallowing a textbook sounds dangerous. I’d recommend against it I think I’ve posted about my interview experience / advice for how to get an interview a dozen times on blind now 🤷♂️ it might be less frequent than guides for getting a job at Amazon… but there’s a lot less of us at Jump haha
