Plan for the eventual market crash

What is everyone’s plan when the market eventually crashes? Genuine advice would be appreciated.

This will work under the assumption that the recovery will be similar to what it was post 2008. This won’t work if the crash is similar to what happened to Japanese stocks in the 1980s. The nikkei still hasn’t climbed back to those levels.

Japan has had some structural issues for a while - It’s not the best comparison.

Put your stops in now, look for industry’s that are oversold and buy low for the long term. Options are your friend if you have the time.

Have a very diversified portfolio. Stocks, bonds, crypto, gold, silver, rare coins, rare comics, art, etc.

Second this! At least buy short term government bonds to diversify your stocks

Shopping spree of houses, stocks, and toys.

Move out of FANG stocks. Diversify into financials, some ETFs, international (exercise caution here due to trade war & buy in small lots)

There is no plan for such. Market crash means most ppl, except few lucky (not smart) ones, are affected by it. If everyone had a plan to escape a crash then there wouldn’t be a crash! General rules are to diversify, have some buffer cash to spend in case of unpleasant situations like layoffs, payoff debts before betting on stock markets etc..

Like the guy who made billions when he saw the 2008 crash coming. Yeah. Real idiot.

Online savings accounts are returning almost 2% right now. Guaranteed 2% return. Not bad considering we’re at historic highs right now for equities.
