Hello Blinders, Iโm a grad student and am completing my degree this December. (I may be able to extend till May โ24) I have summer internship offers from HPE, Fort Collins and Interactive Brokers, Greenwich. Both are software engineering roles though at HPE it will most probably be in Cloud dev or Backend Web dev and in Interactive Brokers it will be in backend C/C++ distributed systems. HPE is offering $40 an hr plus $3200 as relocation bonus. IB is offering $39 an hr and no relocation bonus. I also have offers from OMP Solutions (C++ dev, $28/hr) and Country Financial (Fullstack, $28/hr) In this economy, I want to prioritise the probability of getting a return offer for a full time SDE position after the internship. But from what Iโve heard Interactive Brokers offers 150k+ TC to freshers whereas HPEโs is around 120k+ I want to know about the same in addition to work environment, TC, future salary growth as well as job scope of cloud/backend dev vs low level C/Cpp dev in HFTs Please help me with any information or your opinions! #intern #software #softwareengineersalary #tc #softwareadvice #career #tech #techcareer #compensation #salarycomparison #newgrad #newgradsalary #cloud #hft #hpecompensation #hpehiring #interactivebrokers #hpe #tradingtech #trading #hewlettpackardenterprise #hewlettpackard #softwaredevelopersalary #growth
HPE may be boring, IBKR is exposed to wide range of risk factors, e.g., Swiss currency exchange rate nearly broke them.
Oh dang โฆ whyโs HPE boring btw?
Dunno, it doesnโt look like theyโre innovating a lot, just riding on grandfathered enterprise accounts.
HPE. You will learn more long term skills. A better stable career. Fort Collins is awesome and you will love Colorado.
HPE, anecdotally 90% of the interns Iโve met have gotten an offer. Once you are in, you also have the flexibility to move teams and roles as you navigate your career.
Take the one that gets you more money now. Switch companies in 2 years
At HPE I have seen almost all interns ending up getting full time offers .
Anything with broker in their name
Why?
They pay good
