One of the point is age of the candidate, I have been in us for 15+ years waiting for gc. I’m close to 40 now and I will get lower points than a 25year old 😞
Well, that will offset the points you will get because of the number of years of experience you have.
Experience has fewer points than age
Canada and many countries use this ‘merit’ based system to streamline immigration. The question is how will backlogged countries like India, China, Philippines, Mexico get impacted. If it makes it easier to immigrate and not wait 50 years to get a green-card, then it is a net positive. Also Canada and other developed countries do not restrict family immigration. So one at the cost of another is probably regressive.
Oh so US follows other countries? I hear ‘Murcia doesn’t follow other countries for things like gun / tax / healthcare among other things. Coz it’s ‘Murcia.
It’s not about following anyone. It’s about finding a solution to a crisis that’s making murica lose to China faster than you can say ni wow.
Will there be bonus points for diversity, e.g. so people from countries other then Mexico, India and such get priority.
Why would the stupid "diversity" matter?
Same as before - “not Mexican, Filipino or Indian”.
Hopefully there will be points for all factors that are correlated with successful immigration, such as points for having family connections in the US.
How is having family connections in US better?
Having a family network in the US is strongly correlated with successful integration. Lots of immigrants with jobs but no family connections on the other hand fail to integrate.
