I’m graduating in May and am currently deciding between two offers. I would have never imagined that making the switch from bio to CS 2 years ago would lead me to opportunities like this! Atlassian Remote SF: 131k base 20k sign on 10% yearly bonus 150k stocks over 4 yr First Year TC: 202k Loom: Unicorn Startup Remote: 134k base 10k sign on 290k optional stocks over 4 years First year TC: 144k(not counting options) could be huge if company IPOs I’m excited at the prospect of working at a startup as well as being there if it pops off in the next few years, but I’m worried that it’ll go under at the same time. I’ve also read concerning things about leadership at this company and with how the CTO and CEO have been managing everything since getting unicorn status. I’m also unsure about options/equity compensation. Atlassian has offered me an amazing package and I really enjoyed all of my interviews. Each person I spoke with from Atlassian during the process seemed very genuine and happy that they were at the company. I’m leaning heavily towards Atlassian, but I’m also excited about the startup culture/growth. Would love to hear some input/advice from Blind. #offer #newgrad #swe #startup #atlassian
I'm biased but I think we have a great environment for new grads. On my team everyone sets time aside to get our teams interns and new grads ramped up. Very collaborative culture and relatively low stress with good WLB. Start up culture can be good for a new grad but I'd be nervous about joining a start up in the current economy.

Is that $290K in equity for the startup? What’s their funding stage
It’s 18k stock options over 4 years. 290k is the current estimated market value. They finished their second series C and valuation is 1.5 billion
My lukewarm take on Loom: Loom looks an awful lot like Zoom did pre pandemic. It’s a novel idea that isn’t at all defendable and Slack is already copying the format. Here’s a test, out of your last 10 video calls do you remember which were Zoom and which were on other platforms like Google Meet? Did you actively choose one platform or the other or did you just go with what was in the meeting invite? Like Zoom, the cost to switch to a different platform offering similar features is basically zero for the end user. If my company already uses Slack am I going to push for another yet another communication platform?
