Need some help here, my partner is at Meta and stressing. Security has kind of been understaffed/supported there for the past 3/4 years. What’s the possibility they and other mission critical/support orgs will see the 15% layoffs along with Engineering, Marketing and others?
Yeah, I’ve been seeing constant new security positions popping up on LinkedIn from Meta. They’ve got too much data and too high of a risk if they’re hit. Would end up a massive loss of trust with the public if that happened.
Meta just disclosed another breach
On Friday, the social media platform revealed the Facebook data breach 2022. It discovered over 400 fraudulent Android and iOS apps that target internet users to steal their login information this year. Meta has contacted Apple and Google about the problem to stop customer data from being hacked further. So, it’s third party apps that captured user data. Nothing internal to Meta itself
My bad, I misread that...
Security will be the last industry to die

Security is usually one of the least impacted for sure. Most companies understand the importance and don’t want a breach to happen. That said, Patreon is an exception.
Opinion: depends on their role and if it can be outsourced or replaced for less, TPM less likely then PGM, SE less likely then TPM
OP, first you didnt add your partner’s TC. Second, wtf does your partner actually do?

Security will probably be one of the very last orgs to get layoffs. Recession or not, audits will come every year. Retail at Amazon is freezing hiring but security is still hiring.
Can you send referral for security?
