I’ll share my own story. I am a millennial. Before the pandemic, I was either single or partnered without kids. I had an insane amount of free time to fill up with Netflix. I was renting a condo so my disposable income was also high. Being an Amazon prime member, I could get anything I wanted accesible at the click of a button. Every day I would get an Amazon package delivered with some random thing I shopped for on a whim. Post pandemic, I’m a family man with little or no free time. I never watch tv. I have a giant mortgage and childcare expenses so my disposable income is really limited. I just usually shop at Costco. I have got rid of Netflix, Amazon prime, Disney etc and never shop online. I feel that the current e commerce slump is because of millennials like me who are at a different phase in life, but companies have not kept up. Are others also feeling this?
If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
35
I'm a few years younger than you without kids and I feel the same way...
The idea that millennials as a demographic have moved onto another stage in unison is a bit a absurd imo. Your experience is anecdotal and it's a reach to extrapolate out to the entire generation. Large scale economic factors seem to be more likely candidates for the decline in these services. Money is tight, so people shop online less. Unnecessary subscriptions are eliminated to cut costs. Streaming may also be subject to other more societal factors. The general consensus about Netflix is that the quality of its content has declined and it's adopting anti-consumer business practices. Those have surely driven a loss in subscriptions moreso than a few millennials starting families during the pandemic
This has been the case throughout history. Bachelors have spare time and parents with kids until the kids grow up to 20s hardly have any time or money to indulge on.
Got some news for you. People with kids get way more pointless shit delivered from Amazon.
In a couple of years you'd figure out your kid needs Netflix. And it'd be harder to cancel this time
Same. I don’t know I used to watch soap television but nothing now Another thing is that general public still uses it to kill time.
I think Netflix needs to move into short films. Nobody has time for a 9 hour binge watch
