I worked for a “tech” startup company and already quitted. I don’t want to mention the name of the place. It was so nasty. We were promised a payment of $3k/month because of start-up situation. The manager promised the salary would increase monthly and provide us our office supplies i.e. computer, ipads and monitor screens. However, none of these promises were kept. As for a start-up, I understand the case. In the employment agreement, it did not mention anything about medical insurance, but when we got our paycheck, everyone got deducted for medical insurance and many other items we have never heard of. We actually never got any medical insurance. The promised $3k becomes $1.8k-$2k after the deduction. Is this the legal amount? We literally had nothing to deduct apart from tax. I feel that we got scammed. I want to make sure if we really got scammed. #tech #startup
Name and shame
If you private message me, I can name that for you. I already got over it. No need to mention the name in public, let it remain some dignity.
Lol, anyone remember that Chinese fool who forged bank documents to show that he paid employees of his startup? Next level “fake it till you make it”, shiiii
You definitely have seen something worse
I have seen it all, op. Found that 2016 story for you. https://medium.com/startup-grind/i-got-scammed-by-a-silicon-valley-startup-574ced8acdff
Deductions for Medicare/Medicaid or something else?
Learnt a lot. The first 10 employees I know all left or fired on purpose. I checked their website today and am shocked that the company is still running.
