Which companies among Ramp, Vanta, Brex, Retool and Meta would you suggest for a new grad who is looking for fast career growth, learning and maximizing TC (in the long-term)? Just for clarification, factors that don't matter to me at the moment: - wlb - prestige/ brand value Currently, only have Meta offer in hand - 135k base, 75k sign-on and 220/4k rsu
Meta but depends on tc difference
Depends on the individual role you were offered at each company and what topics interest you. In general I’d say Meta would give you the most benefits in your career just by having it on your resume
Depends on your goals. Most people on blind will never hear of vanta or retool until they reach late stage since none of them actually follow the tech industry But if you ever want to get into the startup scene later on. Being a mid stage employee at retool/vanta will be looked upon much more favorably than being another one of the thousands of new grads who went to meta/google If your sole goal is to be a career swe trying to climb the ladder though then i agree, choose meta. That said. Get the offers first. Retool and vanta are no walk in the park and meta should give you until october to decide
Meta. Save as much money as early as you can as a new grad. Live as poorly as you can. Once you have your first million or so, then go work where you want. Don't waste so many good "compounding interest" years working at a startup that may lead to nothing. I went this route and it was a huge mistake. Also, having Meta brand will help you get any other job you want. You'll probably learn more at a startup but you might not learn the right things there, depends on the company.
Retool and vanta…..are not startups that will lead to nothing They aren’t no name startups it really goes to show how little people on blind know
His argument still stands. Meta pays way more than those companies and looks better on the resume
As someone who worked startups for 15 yrs and then joined big tech, my rec is join big tech ASAP in your career. It’s gold on the resume, you’ll learn a ton, and you can bank a lot of $$ that will come in handy when you’re ready to work at a lower-salary startup (or found your own).
What kind of startups were you at. Stripe in 2015 or databricks in 2016? Or some no name startup?
A handful of series A/B startups, none of them ever popped
join a startup, faang is where passion goes to die
Join meta
🧂?
Vanta by far
Meta. But make it a poll.
