I am currently in a company which lets me decide the work which I want to take for each sprint. I usually take enough work for me to complete in the whole sprint. But I recently got a call from Google to give an on-site interview directly without a phone round or anything. Which will consist of 4 interviews on the same day on just DS and algo. This is my first time interviewing for Google so I am a bit nervous. Also I have not practiced leetcode for a long time after school. I was a bit worried so I recently started taking less work for my sprints. I am a bit worried that this would negatively impact my performance at my current company and might also decrease my chances of getting a raise. Unable to decide what direction to choose at this point. P.S: I am just not happy with my current pay so looking to switch TC: 97k YOE: 2 years
Ask them when’s the latest you can schedule your on-site
For me also recruiter reached out and the phone round got skipped.
IMO: commit to getting out, do the prep you feel you need (but timebox on order of weeks), let recruiter know if you feel you need more time (I did this) and go for it. Try to drum up some other interviews in the process so your fallback is getting a nice raise even if it’s not at Google or your current company
No phone interview? No fifth Googliness interview? I'd definitely do some LC if you are out of practice. Do their mock assessments and then get a friend to do some. It's more important that you explain what you are thinking than writing the correct code from the get go. Discuss corner cases and underlying assumptions. Things like if you're told to search a binary tree where elements are in order, the time complexity has a worst case of O(n), versus if it's a balanced tree which would be O(lg n).
Dont rush it. Talk to recruiter if you can interview in 6 months. It is feasible. You need to bring your a game to coding interview.
Yeah I agree. I really don’t want to miss this chance.
No Googleyness interview?? Wtf 😳 how are you so special??
It was supposed to happen earlier but then they just canceled it.
No way. Without Googleyness there won’t be any interview. I think it could be some miscommunication.
Are you interviewing for SW ML or anything?

Did a recruiter reach out? I haven’t heard many people skipping phone round.
Yes a recruiter reached out on linkedIn. We talked over phone but that was just an introductory call to the interview process.
