Prestige - Google vs Facebook

Let's say that I'm starting a startup in the future. Which sounds better to potential investors/partners. Ex-Googler or Ex-Facebook? I think the two are fairly equivalent as far as job mobility goes. With Facebook on my resume, I can get an interview pretty much anywhere. But what about looking for startup investment?

Forgot to add an option to say they are equivalent.

Just focus on a good product...obviously. fb/goog difference does not matter.

There are good engineers everywhere so are there bad ones. No need to stress too much about where they come from.

Google has more employees to vote, more people interviewed and not cleared, They bring different approaches to table.

Is it time for another Albertsons meme?

Clearly someone got rejected by Albertsons and went to Yahoo instead. How's the dial up connection there?

If you joined Google before say 2012, it’s still a very big deal/brand. If you joined FB before 2015, similar to G before 2012. If you joined Google before 2007, it’s almost God mode. It’s similar to joining FB before 2011. If you joined Google before 2004, it is God mode. Equivalent is FB before 2008. If you’re thinking 2019, neither will automatically give you VCs attention for startup investment.

What companies would you consider to be the equivalent of 2005 Google in 2021?

I couldn’t find a single company despite interviewing with about 30 companies from seed stage to Google itself. Some of the companies in blockchain may become that in the next 2-3 years. Alchemy in that space looks promising, but I talked to them when they were still early and not as good product market fit yet. Not sure they’ve reached that now but they’ve raised a lot of funding. Otherwise none that have (i) Great culture (ii) interesting problem to solve or work and (iii) don’t have to worry about money. It’s been 2/3 for me.
