I am posting this on behalf of my husband ( he does not have blind account). My husband is currently talking to few recruiters at LinkedIn and they are considering him for Staff Engineer Roles. He has over 9 years of experience and has worked for big names <MSFT , eBay , AMZ etc>. is Sr. staff a reasonable expectation . He is doing pretty good in his current role and unless there is pretty good progression in career he does not want to move. Also what is the expected salary range for Staff vs Sr. Staff.
Got it! Quality is hard to quantify on blind. I can brag about my husbands achievements but that can not still quantify quality . Let's say he has delivered and lead research projects and delivered xx millions in revenue. Has been rated in top most bracket in all companies he worked for
Will reiterate what was mentioned don't go by the number of years. If he is good he will bubble up. Senior staff usually is quite high up the technical ladder and companies want to mitigate damage in case of a mismatch. It will not affect compensation since across levels there is always overlap. Be very sure to what group he goes. Cheers.
If he really kicks ass during the interview, it could warrant a senior staff offer. Almost nobody is interviewed for senior staff alone

Frankly, asking for staff, sr staff range is not useful as the range is quite wide and alot depends on ur husbands performance, exp level, current comp or competing offer. Whats his current comp? I am quite confident linkedin will beat it. Most likely by alot.

No. sr staff is a prestigious position in li. You need to lead 15 ppl for a huge project for that. Better establish yourself before joining. Comp wise staff is 300-400k altogether Sr staff 450k+

I'd be pretty upset if google Sr staff (L7) only had 9 years experience. L5-L6 would be more realistic here.
Experience != quality.
Both walmartlabs and LinkedIn have hugely inflated titles. Staff levels at these companies are equivalent to L4 at Google.
