I’ve been here for over 5 years and just became Principal, now I have an offer from a startup that raised 25m seed round and still less than 100 people! I love to take the challenge as I’m so board here but full of fear because of all financial uncertainty of 2022! Any thoughts, experience or advice?
Inflation and the prospect of war is going to create a tricky financial atmosphere for a bit, and some types of startups will go belly up or have a harder time raising. Make sure you have a few months of savings left in case you need to make a transition elsewhere. Are you excited about that level of responsibility and the amount of work the role will require to be successful? And are you excited about the product and does it have product market fit? What's their runway?
Entirely matters on your TC vs what is being offered. If they are giving your whole points in the startup, could be a very good risk/reward situation. Always remember that big tech will be ready to hire if you fail. Running more responsibility in a startup should increase your market value.
