How’s gTech Boulder? Would love to DM someone who works there to talk about product and roles. Moving to CO soon and planning to job search for a product role. Already have a few referrals but no communication from recruiters / gTech. Here’s the title: “Product Technology Lead, gTech Product and Tools Operations” Is this product? TC? Level? Chance of progression? Current software product manager @ T. TC: 155 YOE: 7 Edit: interested in a product manager role… have experience in product, SDE #pm #product #productmanager #gTech #boulder
It's not a product manager job. If you want that, stay away from gTech and get a generic Google PM interview. gTech encompasses way too many things, but at the end of the day it's a supporting org/function - they are not setting product direction or actually building shit except some internal tools maybe.
Like internal tool development is the closest it would be to product? Have you worked in that group / know anyone? I’ve done a lot of internal tool development and I don’t think support is too bad.
I don't work at G anymore. gTech covers so many things that it's really hard to define what the role actually is until you talk to the hiring manager. It's definitely not a Google PM job - you would not be able to switch to a traditional PM role without doing a formal ladder transfer process.
Reading through the rest of gTech posts make gTech sound like a terrible place to go 😬 What’s the rub?? Here’s the title: “Product Technology Lead, gTech Product and Tools Operations”
Hey! I'm in a similar boat and wondered what was your outcome and if you had any insight to share?
All I’ve gotten is that gTech product side isn’t “real product” at Google. Never heard back from recruiters I messaged or after applying 🤷🏻♂️
