Product @ Stripe

Is product management at Stripe prestigious i.e. would it open doors for me in the future / look good on my resume? Would you put it in the same league as product management at FB or Google?

It has a good reputation. Only problem is that Fintech is hurting bad right now.

In terms of reputation, league above fb and google

Haha. Don’t think this is true at all for most people.

what kind of question is this? FB has 4 different products with 2+ billion users across 2 product types (FB, IG, WA, Messenger) Google has 7+ different products with 2+ billion users across 7+ product types (Search, YouTube, G-Mail, Android OS, Google Maps, Chrome, Photos, etc.) Stripe has less than 4 million clients and 1 product type (payments). It's not even in the same universe let alone the same league.

By your logic amazon is the best company in the world. Stripe also has more than 4 million clients and do more than payments api. Just wondering what kind of innovation you think is being done in search and ads teams at google. I’m sure as a pm android you’ll be doing grounbreaking work for youtube too

who said anything about best company in the world, i am also referring to product management reputation and bar. All of the products i listed have amazing reputations globally. Relative to hiring bar: Google has the hardest PM interviews in the industry by far. Global full stack products with enormous user bases are very difficult products to lead regardless of innovation. re: Amazon, a PMT or PMT-ES for AWS would absolutely be highly received in the industry. AWS is by far the best consumer cloud product in the world. Whatever Stripe's client count is or whatever niche products they do beyond payments, it doesn't come anywhere near bar, reputation, difficulty, etc. as the other products i referenced.

Product at Stripe is a ton of work. There are so many angles in fintech (legal, sales, eng) that need to be factored in that you’re essentially drinking from multiple firehoses. Not sure how you would judge prestige , but I would start by seeing the work history of Stripe PMs to see what relevant experience they have.
