An opportunity is presenting itself to join a ventures group within a large company and evaluate various M&A and startup opportunities for investments. I’ve been PM’ing for a while at large companies and start ups and been looking for a change of function. Anyone transition from the dark side to the darker side?
Is this route even an option? How would you sell ur self at interview?
Your product sense and strategy skills will matter more. Also PM track record since you’ll be spending a lot of time with startup CEOs and CTOs and need to back up your shit. Basically you’ll need to fill in the void on everything minus valuation and excel skills (which eventually can be learned)

Would be interested to hear from folks in a venture group at a large co - from interacting with these groups it really could be hit or miss and not entirely comparable to an independent vc shop
Agreed; would be keen to understand if venture group — > independent VC shop is a viable career path; basically to gauge whether this is a potential career path
