I'm starting the interview process for Product Ops roles at a FAANG and PM roles at smaller startups. What should I make sure I know (other than TC ) while going through the interview process?
Optimize for future, not your immediate next step. Ops roles are nothing like PM roles.
Its not operations. Its Product Ops. It reports to the VP of Product just like a PM.
It's still operations. Uber has this role. And it sucks in the long run.
What would you prefer to do? Product ops or PM, brand aside
I wanna solve hard problems. I'm coming from VC / MBA background and I only ever hear people talk about PM roles as if it's the only thing anyone who doesnt code is capable of. Product ops seems interesting and like its heavy on the higher level PM work and lighter on the JIRA BS.
