For product managers who have worked at multiple FAANG companies - what difference have you seen between them? You can follow the below format: Company A Liked: 1 2 3 Did not like: 1 2 3 Company B .... PS - I have only worked at Amazon Amazon Like: 1 decentralized decision making leading to high decision velocity 2 constant push by leadership to think big 3 no bullshit culture Do not like: 1 need to be constantly on. Cannot relax for more than a few days before someone noticing 2 difficult to make friends at work as everyone is busy 3 PIP culture creates unnecessary stress #amazon #google #meta #apple #product
Following.. Hopefully more replies soon, lol.
How's Toyota's culture?
Wouldn't even know where to begin, lol. Current group is pretty chill, hybrid work environment. It's a Japanese company so a lot of stuff has to flow through the parent company (Japan home office) before a lot of things get approved. Not very agile as you need tons of approvals before you can do anything. Personally, wouldn't recommend the automative space but I see you're in it also haha.

Why limit to FAANG? MSFT, Stripe, Tesla…would be interesting to hear from a broad range of companies.
Nothing matters in life except FAANG
Wrong. Money matters more. You’ve been lied to.
software engineer here, really keen on exploring companies with more emphasis on product, following this post!
Visa does too. Which org / team do you work with?
hey, this is my first job out of college, I’m in the team(s) handling authorization, settlement & clearing I recently heard about Visa Garage, sounds interesting are you familiar with the teams here?
TC or GTFO
Bloomberg culture is sooooo chill. Best company to coast at
How's the PM TC?
Ya pls share pm/Senior PM TC!
Microsoft Likes: 1. Been WFH for a long time, pre COVID 2. Decent WLB if you make it 3. Decent perks 4. Very flex schedule 5. Can coast forever if you want. By the time anyone figures it out you’re probably ready to come back to work anyway lol 6. Lots of lazy peers, it’s easy to stand out in a positive way and collect the 🥜 they leave behind Dislikes: 1. extremely poor sr leadership. Seems this way in most orgs here. 2. Lack of anyone making decisions on anything. Creates a slow and stagnant business. 3. Highly bureaucratic org 4. Too many coasters TC 500K
@sea hawk, how long did it take you to get to L7? What does it take to get hired in product at Amazon from a non product role? Does asking about the PIP policy disqualify a candidate instantly?
Go first
Fair. Updated the post 🙂
