Bitcoin is the only possible future
I would be sitting for Campus placements in my college (IIT) and I would be targetting Quantitative Strategist positions at HFTs like Quadeye, Tower Research, Graviton etc. I would like to ask what short term projects (in 1-2 weeks preferably in C++) can I do to showcase on my resume for the same. #hft #quadeye #towerresearchcapital
I wouldn’t “showcase” it in a resume, but the exercise of designing and implementing a limit order book is educational.
> implementing a limit order book is educational No it’s not. Literally a Python dictionary with lists for each price. Can be done in 10 mins
I work as a dev but i would say do a project on what HFTs do. Find some time series data on internet for equity, forex or crypto markets. Train your models on some of data and try to predict other part in a sliding window. ( I am assuming you have good knowledge of ML). Learn about key exchanges, order types, financial instrument types apart from regular preparation material.
How does the day-to-day work of dev looks like? What do you do on a daily/weekly basis? Can you elaborate please. Need to gauge how the dev work differs from that of FANG work
I am a dev in infra side. A general work will be to add features to my module, upgrading my module code to be in line with udgrades in connected modules. In case a trader is facing some issue in related to my code, fix it or point him in right direction. Catering to requests of traders which are related to my work/team's work. Deadline on any of feature addition projects are generally not very tight and focus is on doing it the right way. Deadline for issues related to traders can be tight depending on their urgency. My tech stack is C++/Python mainly and any kind of tools that are required to complete the requirements.
