Promotion from analyst to associate at Goldman Sachs

What does it take to get promoted to Associate? I've been at Goldman for almost 2 years now but still not sure if they will promote me this year.

Not much. There are HCMs time based guidance but essentially your manager decides.

If you have masters then 2 years. Bachelor, you should get it in 3 years. If you don't get it in those conditions then you did not do well in the manager hidden rankings (different than your review). Getting to VP will be difficult with a bad record.

I have a Masters but my team is weird. Still not sure where I stand. They don't like socializing and I'm the youngest with at least a 15 year difference so I always feel a little out of place.

Ask your manager if he/she is considering you for AA (accelerated associate). Remember that whenever you get promoted you will compete with your equivalents, so only ask for it if you feel like you will be a top performer.

What do you mean by that 😂

At JPM it would take on average 3 years. Which is quite a long time. In consulting they broke down the positions you have consultant, senior consultant and then associate to make the process even longer

Is there a PATC cap if you stay Analyst?
