Depends on how much capital they let you start off with.
Prop trading just means you're trading proprietary capital. A fund takes outside money. What they then do with that money may be the same or different.
I'm just assuming minimum investment. If they provide a larger portfolio after a year of putting in 10k it seems like the prop would make significantly more. Can hedge funds analysts trade?
10k? Like.. ten thousand dollars? That's a mostly negligible amount of capital. Analysts can trade but typically don't. They do research which is used by the PMs who trade.
