Hi guys, any idea about any website where I can find accurate property tax percentage for a zip code/area/address ? What I see in redfin doesnt match with other random websites and doesn't match with what the lender said today
Redfin gives previous year's tax amount. You can go the accessors website and put in the address. That will give you the appraised value of the property and the corresponding tax. Based on that you will get the percentage. However the tax amount will change for you(percentage is still the same) because the accessed value will now be the value you will buy at( minus $7k). So the bank must have given you the new tax numbers.
Yes i understand what you are saying. And I found out the county website and checked the same too. Thats all accurate.
The bank guy was wrong. He told me the tax rate at the county i was looking at is below 1%. Around .89 but the official website says its at 1.2%. I will talk to him again tomorrow

Welcome to the tangled web of local tax incentives. The rate is not as critical as other existing incentives.
For instance some municipalities in Ohio have a homeowner rate drop, a homesteader rate drop, investment property rate hike, x-or-y zone tax abatement etc.
Point is, the official rate is not always the specific property rate.
