I had to take a short term disability for around 1.5 months under FMLA. Our company uses prudential to cover for std. I have submitted multiple documents including doctors note, medical records, medication and therapist note. However, the claims manager seems to not approving it. She has been requesting random documents each time, the last requested documents were submitted. It has been over 2 months after the last day of leave. Let me know if someone has faced a similar situation. It appears that she just wants to either deny the claim or delay it for significant amount of time. Really bad experience with Prudential. Didn’t expect this kind of experience when they are working with software companies. #fmla #prudential
FYI: at Earth's Best Employer, STDI is internally managed, so although they can and do mess it up, you can find the case manager in our corp directory, and can email, Slack or Chime them directly if you're having trouble with the externally visible contact info.
Did you get an answer from them yet? Was this for mental health? I’ve applied and nervous about the whole process and have heard so many horror stories about people getting denied
I have still not received any replies
It’s kind of so stressful. More than the disability
I think you need to escalate it? Can you ask for the manager of the case manager?
I did. I even filed a complaint with them. Now I’m planning to approach the state board
You might have to find a STD lawyer
It’s more likely to get approved if you have a medical doctor complete the lengthy paperwork vs a therapist. Most docs are unwilling unless it’s pretty clear you need the time off to recover
No you need to use the form Prudential or whoever is the short term disability insurance’s form
@duras123 How long was yours approved for?
Op, did you call or mostly email? Make sure to follow up with paper trail.
@wpcjent 3 months
When are you due to come back?
I think they're legally required to provide a decision within a few weeks, has that not happened?
No, they are just beating around the bush. I am planning to submit a complaint to bbb
