My dad works for a non profit community access TV station and needs to store 150TB of data. He spoke to AWS and BackBlaze charging 4$ per TB and 5$ per TB respectively per month. Its a tough expense for the Non Profit to take on that monthly cost for cloud data storage... Any ideas on where he should be looking? #clouddata #adviceneeded #nonprofit
You can try Google, although it looks like it’s the same price as AWS: https://cloud.google.com/storage/pricing Storage costs money, can’t go around that; somebody has to pay for those drives. It’ll also cost more if you need it to be serve-able, and don’t forget to factor in traffic costs. Is it just for storage? Maybe writing it out to tape would be cheap?
Would GSuite rectify? Looks like 6+ business licenses gets you unlimited storage?
I think 1 is enough
Explore all cloud service providers and use up all their free evaluation periods.
Online or offline copies? MSFT has a nonprofit program where they give like $3500 credits annually for Azure.
Connect him with the Internet Archive in San Francisco https://archive.org/
Google 🤘🏻 Give us all your data please 😂
Gsuite Or shuck some cheap external disks and build a ZFS NAS for 2-3 grand
Email it your self
Backblaze? $60/year/computer for unlimited backup storage (never used them, but I'm looking to start).
Check your pricing again. Backblaze B2 is 400% less than AWS. Or as other have said use B1 for 7/month/pc. https://www.backblaze.com/b2/cloud-storage-pricing.html
Tapes in a safe is still an okish alternative.
That’s what they have, but need central access to it...
What's the nature of the data? Video?
