I interned at Amazon and Google, at the end of each, I received a fulltime return offer but didn't accept as I wanted further education. Is it worth noting on my resume? My thoughts are it seems like an accomplishment worth noting, like getting 1st place at a hackathon? But it also could seem weird and unnecessary/ give bad vibes? If you're curious, cause this is blind: TC: -30K bc of school Amazon Offer 2019: Salary: 103k salary 34k sign on 1st year 20k sign on 2nd year 70k RSU over 4 years (Back loaded) Google Offer 2020: Base 129K Sign On: 20K Bonus 15% (Meets expectactions can go higher) RSU: 100K over 4 years, vests quarterly Relocation: 6-8 K
This reminds me that recently I saw some resumes where people were putting things on their resume like “full time offer rescinded by Uber due to COVID-19”, etc. Don’t think it’s right but idk honestly.
How was google conversion interview?
I'm unsure about why people are saying no, so I'm gonna lay out my thought process and hope to be corrected. Doesn't putting the fact that you have a return offer on your resumé (especially as a new grad or <1 YOE) indicate that you had a successful internship and are a not-too-bad co-worker? Since the impact of projects completed in a short-term internship may not be immediately visible, isn't a return offer an indication of you doing a good job?
+1 this
Im with you. Funny i see others mentioning insecurity and immaturity to suggest not doing this. I find it ironic that people calling others immature for putting something meaningful on their resume. Return offer = did well on internship. State it there, easy. Why count on others asking you in interview? They might not even ask, and worse - you dont even pass resume review.
Resume is where you put your experience and accomplishments. Receiving an offer is not counted as an accomplishment.
Receive offer = did well on internship, so it is an accomplishment. How many of your interns got return offer?
Plenty of them. At least half of them. An official award from a recognized org is counted as an achievement, not an offer letter which you didn’t even accept. Just imagine if you were the hiring manager, and I’ve sent you a 10-page resume saying: Received offer from Palantir, but I rejected them. Received offer from Facebook, but I rejected them. Received offer from Amazon, but I rejected them. Received offer from Google, but I rejected them. Does this sound like an achievement to you?
Lol don’t the majority of people get return offers at both companies? That’s like putting “didn’t get fired” as an accomplishment
Not true. Clueless. Of course for low bar amazon, but not even close for G
Should’ve just taken the offer. That extra education ain’t gonna get you squat In this market
Shouldn't matter having it on resume
How hard is google return offer? Conversion interview?
