I just received a written offer (and signed) from a FAANG company, but I'm still having a hard time even thinking of telling my coworkers that I'm leaving. I love my coworkers to death and there isn't a single one of them that I wouldn't miss. I know they would understand my decision to move forward, but it really is difficult, truly. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue before, with breaking off from some of the best people you've ever worked with. My role is a hybrid between hardware and software, non SWE technical. Some context: I love my work and enjoy the technology I work with, but I feel like my responsibilities have piled up without a reasonable increase in pay. My work / skills grow exponentially while my pay grows linearly and I feel like my pay and skills are grossly out of sync. Because Blind will vilify me if I don't provide: TC: 110K New TC: ~x2 #semiconductor
No, it’s all about the TC baby
Test and measurement is a garbage industry. You made the same choice I did - you won't regret it. Sitting at nearly 3x TC 18mo after switching and enjoying opportunity not tied to broader market growth but rather my abilities and contributions.
You are making right choice. It’s always hard making a move from a comfortable place. In a few years and few jumps you will realize that TC and work quality is the king.
Congrats on the big jump in TC! What's your YOE?
Thanks! I just realized I might've forgotten that. I'm 2.5 YoE of relevant experience. I have ~ 5 YoE work experience (still kind of relevant, but not directly).
