Why do Indians lie so much about their skills/experience?
Hey everybody, I'm looking for referrals to remote positions in typical United States time zones. Due to some personal obligations I'm tethered to my current city—so I CANNOT relocate. I'm a software engineer predominantly looking for backend positions, though I'm also open to full-stack positions. My preference is to be on a fully remote team, but I'm open to all remote roles. I attempted interviewing 5 months ago... when all the hiring freezes started happening 😅. So, this is my 2nd attempt—here's some info on my last batch of interviews: - Resume rejected: a lot of places (before I got a resume review, so hopefully it's better this time around) - Told there was a freeze after intro call: Google, Flock Safety, some other startups - Ghosted or freeze after I was told I passed the technical screen: HubSpot, Capital One, Color, some other startups - Got an offer: ServiceNow, lesser known Fortune 500 Some notes about me and my preparation: - 1st time prepping for coding and system design interviews - Preparation spread out over ~9 months - In-depth resume review from a tech recruiter - ~500 LeetCode problems (see screenshot below for breakdown) - Neetcode 150 (excluding some bit manipulation) https://neetcode.io/ - Grind 75 https://www.techinterviewhandbook.org/grind75 - 75% of Sean Prashad's https://seanprashad.com/leetcode-patterns/ - 10+ coding interview mocks - Read volume 1 & 2 of Alex Xu's System Design Interview (also acted as a mock interviewer for most chapters, so I could retain the content better) - Read Designing Data-Intensive Applications (via a book club, also for retaining better) - Read Grokking the System Design Interview - Random YouTube videos - 15 system design interview mocks - Worked at a not well known consulting company for 3 years. Started a new job last month, but not satisfied with the learning prospects and total compensation. - Total compensation: 130k in cash - Years of experience: 3 years of industry experience + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science - Location: LCOL city in the US I greatly appreciate you all, Blind has already helped increase my compensation by >50% 🙂. Any advice/help is appreciated—thanks everybody! #Square #Datadog #Elastic #Atlassian #Figma #Reddit #Dropbox #Confluent #Grafana #GafanaLabs #LinkedIn #Airtable #Sourcegraph #Discord #YugabyteDB #MongoDB #Pinterest #Salesforce #Slack #GitHub #Twitch #Audible #Indeed #Brex #Lyft #Spotify #Hashicorp #Etsy #Toast #Gusto #Upstart #Lattice #Braze #Addepar #EpicGames #Plaid #KhanAcademy #WaterShed #LyraHealth #Motive #Mux #Ramp #Okta #Iterable #Cloudflare #Noom #Workiva #PostScript Also, if this referral post looks similar to one from 5 months ago, that's because it is and I'm the same person 🙂.
