Hello! i’m asking for a friend in QA. She has about 5 years of relative experience and is leading a team of 3ppl. location is Boston, MA. What’s the average salary that she could get if she decides to switch companies? #qa #salary #boston
25% less than avg swe salary (after the first 100k)
Do you mean the test engineer position vs SWE at google?
QA can mean a lot of things. If it's mostly manual testing of features then it'll be mostly on the low end while of the team is writing software that automatically tests and hooks into the core dev process it'll be much higher
The band is very wide for QA. In Apple (and my previous company in Bay Area) they make as much as developers do. In the Bay Area I have seen manual QA making as low as 90k too, so manual-only isn’t a good way of making a living. If a developer is a super star, then they would make way more than QA or other dev, but there is no such thing as super star for QA
This^. usually QA is less comp then developer but not a big difference. Most QA are coding jobs along with manual. Pure manual jobs are paid less for sure and few openings.
That depends what type of QA. Like most of here said manual QA makes less than automation engineers but in bay area even QA makes more..Also as functional testers what type of application you are testing also matters like QA for ERP or CRM or HCM makes more money
