I was working in a team which dint have enough scope for me to move to next level or providing me challenging opportunities. I was dealing with a lot of mental issues, that and the lack of challenge destroyed my motivation along the way. I finally decided to move teams which is when I got put into devlist. My manager initially gave me some goals which were totally doable. So I started working on it. But he came back a month later saying the goals werent enough given my tenure (5 YOE as SDE2) and came with more goals. Now Im stressed out and have lost the motivation to work on those and feel Im going to be piped anyway so I have started looking outside. I have an interview with Meta for phone screen. I don't know if I will clear but I'm more worried if Im at E5 level. Im worried about questions about my scope of work and I feel like I haven't done enough that would get me there assuming I cleared all other rounds. Like any of those behavioral questions I don't think I have come across that situation. Do I cook up stories for it? I feel I screwed up my career enough
Take FMLA, prep for interviews and get a Senior offer externally. That’s what I’m planning to do as well.
I’m worried about the behavioral rounds since I haven’t been working on high impact projects IMHO. How do you tackle that? Do ppl lie in behavioral to look better ? I honestly don’t want to and I’m not got at it but I’m scared that might be what I should do and not screw up while lying to be able to get a senior role
Look at projects Senior folks in your team are working on or if you’re working on a project that they’re leading. Use their data points to showcase your Senior experience that you know in depth about and will be able to defend during the interview.
