Hello, I am pondering on interviewing with qualcomm. I've interviewed with Qualcomm AI Research just last year in Q4 and actually ended up getting an offer. I declined at that time since, i thought research would be less fun in isolated pandemic environment and they only offered Senior Engg. at that time. I thought if i wait for few months, i may get Staff. I've been receiving Qualcomm's recruiters messages about potential roles in Hexagon DSP compiler team. 1. How is Hexagon team compared to AI Research Team ? 2. Would it be possible to get Staff Engineer level at 3.5 YoE + MS ? 3. Which one of the team would have higher compensation. I suppose AI research, but can anyone confirm that ? - Currently at AMD, 140-150$ TC #hardware #semiconductor #qualcomm #amd #hexagon #QualcommAIresearch
It would be very very hard and very very rare to get a staff with MS+3.5yoe... Fresh MS starts from engineer. You can be a staff with Phd+years.
Senior more likely
Staff for MS + 3.5 years ? I highly doubt. The staff engineers are very good and kind of team leads at Qualcomm. Better not to join as a staff with 3.5 years as you might face a lot of expectations. Even the expectations from a Sr. Engineer is pretty high at Qualcomm.
Yeah. QC Engineer is starting point for fresh MS and Sr. Engineer is starting point for fresh PhD. So, MS+3.5YOE is exactly fit to the Sr. Engineer. But if you have 4.5YOE, you may try staff....I am not still sure for that though.
I believe this is correct. All I know finishing Ph. D. were offered Senior
Any comments on how is the hexagon team ?
I heard it's not a core team. WLB is not that good. Moreover career growth is very slow due to politics and bureaucracy of middle management.
How is the salary like on the team ?
QCOM AI team might pay more
