Engineer (New Grad) -- San Diego, CA Base: 100k Sign-on: 20k Stock: 30k over 3 years Relocation: 7k Thoughts? Does Qualcomm negotiate?
Wow. I have heard Qualcomm is lowballing new grads these days , but wow this is a seriously low offer. Maybe for 2019 they are doing this. The base for new grad should be $108k . And no, Qualcomm doesnt negotiate.
Does qcom distinguish between new grad Masters and bachelor's? PhD comes in at senior level.
There used to be a distinction. Have you ever heard about the “invisible” 3 year mark to get promoted to a newer level ? What used to be that people with Masters would have to wait a minimum of 3 years to get promoted to Sr, while those with a BS degree would wait a minimum of 4 years. This has all changed now. As part of its retention plans, Qcom resorted to promoting people (BS and MS grads) en-masse this time. So to answer your question ,no, qcom doesnt differentiate now. But it may go back to its old formula once it is not bleeding for employee retention
This is inline with Qualcomm pays except when you get offer in few specific teams.. very difficult to get a different numbers after negotiation.. Good luck 👍
This is in SD though which doesn't have a super high COL and is an amazing place to live.
this is san Diego though not Sillicon Valley. your first year TC would be 100+20+10=130k for San Diego.
They never negotiate. Hr will be like take this or gtfo.
No. Qualcomm does not negotiate. What you are getting, however, is worth vastly more than what non Sandiegans here are telling you because they have no idea. SD 100k is 200k in SJ. And the food and weather is better than SJ.
100k is still a good salary and this time the bonus was better. So you will be compensated pretty good the year after you join. Compared to salaries from Amazon etc this is definitely less. But you r in different industry altogether
Ask for more stocks. This is like 5-6k per year after taxes.
How much more would you ask for?
For 3 years try to get 75k at least
