Hi All, I just got verbal offer from Qualcomm SD in DV for Staff engineer. I really did not negotiate anything on the base or RSU. This were the initial numbers given by HR. Is this base good for staff in SD ? Any chance I can bump up the base till 175 k and RSU to atleast 100 k. Qualcomm folks please kindly look into this and any help would really be appreciated š Thanksā¦ Base: 169 k RSU: 75 k/3 Relocation: 5k No Sign onā¦. No Sign on yet and, I have Requested for the same. HR said it depends upon approval and, she will try for it as it depends on team budgetā¦ #hardware #semiconductor #qualcomm ##qualcommsalary #qualcommlife #qualcommsalary Location: San Diego MS+ 8 yrs Current TC: 143 k.
Very good salary. This is highest staff base in SD. Which team is it?
DMed you
Since you need to relocate, it may not be easy to compare, if it is from Bay Area to SD, it is terrific. If it is from Portland to SD, it is another story. Which company you believe in long run. Not sure if new Intel CEO can save this once great company. For many years, I feel Intel is nothing but a complete failure and their latest attack on Apple is confirming that they are just pathetic loser. Intel cannot deliver for a long time
It is going to be from Folsom to SDā¦
I worked for QC in SD for over 10 years. QC has great engineers, SD is a very nice place to live and ur base should be on the high end of staff engineer. But QC had quite a few dark moment in the past due to the bad quality of management and I feel it is still the same. However, QC is on the lucky side due to the hype of 5G. The issue is god knows how long this hype will last and do you really think you need 5G. Anyway, maybe ask for good sign on bonus and some extra, best luck
Final verbal offer: Recruiter agreed to add a Sign on Bonus of 30k. No other change and I could not push RSU beyond this as she told it is the standard they give for Staff and cannot go above this as it wonāt be approved either ā¦ For Sign on I really had to work hard in getting my Recruiter to add one. They kept on saying Sign on is not a standard as a part of compensation and it may be added on a case to case basis depending upon the individualās situation. After I told her there are several people and literally every offer from QCom comes with sign on as standard as even RCG gets 15/20k. She then asked me to give some data for her to verify like some of my friend , etc who did receive a sign on bonus. She said she can look at that and see what they can do best in terms of matchingā¦ I luckily knew one of my leads who left Intel for QCom in 2019 and he had got a Sign on bonus of 35 k back then. They looked at the database and told me on the call that it is based out of east coast and was a senior staff offer but she does sees the sign on. They asked me if I know someone recentky with a SD offer and I did not know any just said that GPU/ camera/ SOC all are getting atleast 35-40 k in sign on bonus for staff. They told me if I have the name of a person who recently got that and I did not know that as I told that this was from blind and levels FYI. It was kind of weird that I had to provide so much justificationā¦ Finally 2 days later when I asked an update she said we can ask 30 k in sign on Bonus after I told earlier that I will be loosing out close to ~ 25 k in unvested stocks at Intel.. I was so tired with this that I did not ask fir any more bump in sign on. I know 35 to 40 k range you can negotiate but, I felt 30 k was a win win for me here and there was no point in fighting any longer for that 5kā¦ Anyone had such experience dealing with a QCom recruiter?
They have standard RSU but you can get good sign on . The base is high for a staff position so that is great, it means they really want you so donāt ask for small sign on ( at least 50-60 is doable).
50-60 k in sign on ?
