No details but someone I know was laid off today. 5/24 last day.
No 60 day notice ?
The last day on payroll is July 18
Many folks received notification today that their last day will be May 24th, mostly from modem related teams
Apple/Intel killed modem demand, makes sense.
Seems org based, lots of staff eng and higher let go
10-30 % QCT in the US. <=5% elsewhere. Overall 5% total. Disprpoypatinately engineering and QCT. Lots of long timers affected.
This is sad news indeed. Wondering with 5G modem design, validation, QA and specification skill set wondering what types of next stops can be for those Qcom friends
It’s 5% overall. Some selective teams within customer engineering/test and SW may see 10-30% ….. but 10-30% for US QCT seems unlikely.
How come there's not a single report about this???
There are so many reports already. Where were you looking? - https://www.verdict.co.uk/qualcomm-to-lay-off-employees/ - https://www.peoplematters.in/news/strategic-hr/qualcomm-plans-to-lay-off-5-of-its-workforce-amidst-economic-uncertainty-37681 - https://hrsea.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/industry/chipmaker-qualcomm-begins-layoffs-to-support-long-term-growth/99894308
these are not US outlets. They all seem to be India outlets.
Last one is bogus (NXP was long time ago)
