The good ol’ layoff without a layoff
Taking referrals now. Please help 🙂
Sly move in this market when it’s going to be hard to find something else. It’ll just come back to them once the recession is over.
The highest performers will be able to find something else tho
I'm sure Qstaff did not make such an impactfull decision without forethoughts and data behind it. I imagine they atleast ran a few key analyses like correlation of the last year ratings against employee who swipe into the office. Probably found that most high rating employees showed up a few times a week, and though there are high rating employees who prefer to wfh and will leave due to rto, it is an acceptable number to give up if it mean a lot of mediocre employees also voluntarily leave.
Furthermore, managers will fight for strong performing employees to WFH if it's really a deal breaker. Which we currently grant exceptions to. It's honestly a pretty good move to cut employees who are just doing the bare minimum. I'm not saying I agree with it on a ethical standpoint, but it's a solid business decision. No layoff = no negative press and no severance.
If they've got that data, they should've shared it. Transparency and all that. We've got employees on my team that I and my manager are fighting to get exceptions for because they are our highest performers but live over an hour away, and our management further upline won't allow it.
What happened to showing up once a month and let your team decide? Did they come up with random survey results again that never showed the data behind the results?
Worse, did not share any survey results. Just said we need to show up 4 days a week after the holidays
Let this be the warning shot to all of you at other companies….

Qualtrics doing the old layoff-without-a-layoff
This is not a layoff when you're about to lose top performers. Layoff would result in letting go mostly low performers
