I've been contacted by a headhunter who advertises $1-2M TC for 2 sigma, DE Shaw, etc, and want to see what the realistic comp levels are. Currently making 850k at Meta for the next few years, will be 600k ish after the cliff. No finance background but math PhD, 3 years as math postdoc, plus 5 YoE as ML engineer. #finance #deshaw #twosigma #twosigmacareers
Can you guide me , please DM
It’s definitely possible, since ML engineers are highly sought after in quant. I would definitely say closer to 1 million with high upside to 2 given performance
Such high TCs are never guaranteed, only 1st year bonus will be guaranteed, from 2nd year it will be all about performance bonus, and looks like this is research role, so it will be about how your strategies perform. But no harm speaking to them for more details, and understand more about the comp structure.
How does the bonus work in the industry? Is it based on some default percentage of base, plus a perf multiplier, or directly based on how much money you made?
Not in multiple of base. Based on how much money your strategy made, and how much money your team made.
Of course they advertise big number. Just try out the interview and when they ask salary expectations mention the 2M recruiter advertised
