Does instagram actually treats the compression for IOS and Android differently? Do they make a more aggressive compression on Android, and is that why the quality of uploaded Android photos on Instagram is worse than IOS? #meta #instagram
It’s because they take photos in the IG app on Android. When you try to build your own camera app it’s really hard to support all devices very well and get good quality. Most high end devices (like Samsung, Google) come with their own camera apps that have a lot of specialization on top of the platform camera APIs to make the photos better. Those benefits aren’t available to 3P apps. On iOS, the system gives you a good camera view that matches the quality of the built in camera app, so 3P camera apps on iOS can actually be good.
Just upload photos taken from the camera app into Instagram
